Fundacion Pacita is a hotel and gallery paying tribute to the life and work of artist Pacita Abad. Fundacion Pacita supports the education of the Ivatan youth through projects initiated by The Jorge, Aurora, and Pacita Abad Memorial Foundation, Inc. Pacita’s most extensive body of work, however, is her vibrant, colorful abstract work – many very large scale canvases, but also a number of small collages – on a range of materials from canvas and paper to bark cloth, metal, ceramics, and glass.
Jack Garrity is the Director of the Pacita Abad Art Estate, and formerly Executive Director of the Asia Society in Washington DC. Abad's journeys and experiences living in Asia, Africa and the Caribbean had a major impact on her artwork, and her subject matter was largely drawn from her personal experiences.
