The roads are well paved and are a crazy type of narrow. Awesome HIKE but this is what the non-locals aren't telling you. I think it needs to be cleaned more often. Tehachapi is located 35 miles (56 km) east-southeast of Bakersfield, at an elevation of 3,970 feet (1,210 m).

There's decent hike it's steep on the way up 2.5 miles. Great place to camp, we have been here quite a few times and while we like the upper camp sites we prefer the lower site because they have available electricity, covered structure with picnic tables which is nice during the day, and running water and bathrooms That's fine with me but the wife and kids would've preferred the option of a real toilet vs the hole in the ground type but whatever overall experience was great.

The toilet had old splattered s*** on it and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a year or so. The grounds are well kept and it seems that each campsite has a water spicket for fresh water. Granted you have to be in Tehachapi, or know where Tehachapi is, or be wanderIng around southeastern California, or have a sweet GPS.We came up here for the day to roast hot dogs and make s'mores. It is common to see many Deer, skunks and their babies. Toilets are chemical outhouses. I went here with my girlfriend and my pitbull puppy and it was a very beautiful and relaxing spot. Tehachapi ( /təhætʃəpi/; formerly Tehachapai, Tehachapa, Tehachepi, Tehachipi, and Summit Station) is a city incorporated in 1909 located in the Tehachapi Mountains between Bakersfield and Mojave in Kern County, California. The reason for this is because people from Bakersfield and Lancaster decided to come up here every year and leave their trash (you should of seen the pictures in the newspapers trash everywhere in the forest). Consider that we made stops, took pictures, and hung out a the tip for a while. As a local, it is great to have a close-by place to camp.
Very unprofessional and annoying.I actually went to visit my best friend that cares for my 140 pound son (Stafforshire Terrier) Tehacapi City...especially up in the moutains is a Beautiful, almost resort like community. We'd like to say that ya'll some liars. IT IS STEEP! Its truly a hidden gem in the Tehachapi Mountains. There is a fire pit, bbq and a picnic bench on each site too. In August 2015, we stayed in our Travel Trailer at Mountain Valley RV Park in Tehachapi, CA. Oh and yeah there's water spigots around too.
