The cinema is temporarily closed in response to the coronavirus pandemic. That said, this place is really hit or miss. This above The Bloor Street Diner which has a good brunch buffet and an Indigo books.This was the only theatre showing 1917 for its limited engagement run before the full release on January 10, 2020 so I made the trek out to the Cineplex Varsity to see it. I loved the VIP theatre. There are only about 28 seats and it can get crowded very fast.
Give yourself at least 5 minutes to make and validate the account. They're nice and cozy, and typically very clean.Convenient theater downtown but in a depressing indoor mall that was partly under construction in winter 19-20.
Ordered tickets on line, email with tickets in PDF format was non-openable, raised a ticket on their website about the issue and no response. They were nicer than regular theatre chairs but I was hoping to recline.The tickets are kind of expensive, but im a tourist idk if its regular price for cinema tickets ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I prefer Empress Walk, the Scotiabank theatre and Silvercity Yonge and Eglinton over the Varsity theatre. General 14.50. Some of the screens are great, others are tiny in the way you've forgotten old school theatres used to be.First time visiting here despite working in the area for more than two years...Take-home Message: The VIP tickets are NOT worth it. By myself, on a date, with a friend, I've considered sneaking in a dog. Actual price will be noted at checkout. I have some friends who are not big fans of it, saying it's too secluded and the screens too small, but that's actually what I like about it. Anyway, I just like to go sit in the dark, eat crap and be entertained.
Not at all a VIP experience.I really feel this is the best theatre in the Toronto area because it has great variety in its programming: Hollywood blockbusters, independent films, and art-house pictures.
The seats are clean and comfortable, I have no complaints here. We’re temporarily closed, but we look forward to welcoming you back to the big screen soon!
